Dogwood Daughter: THE LISTENING ROOM

Free Tibet

(Dogwood Daughter)

I wrote and recorded "Free Tibet" right before the Beijing Olympics.  I have always loved Tibetan culture....I've been curiously drawn to it, ever since I can remember.  And like many other people in the world, I have a great affection and respect for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

It is true that the Dalai Lama's bedroom remains just as he left it.  The "Lords of Four Directions" are statues in Tibet. And the honorific title 'Dalai Lama' means 'the ocean of all wisdom.'

Lopsang Sherpa, unbeknownst to me but as a wonderful gesture and surprise, made a video for my song.  It is on the video page of this website.

Forbidden City, Lhasa

Hidden in the clouds

The Dalai Lama's Palace

The diamond in your crown

The Ocean of all Wisdom

That fled his mountain home

Is still with you in spirit

Tibet, you aren't alone

Chorus

Free Tibet,Free Tibet now

Free Tibet

Release  this Holy Ground

All the might of China

Cannot bring you to your knees

Tibet will live forever

 Tibet, you will be free

Oh, Tibet, you will be free

The Lords of Four Directions

Wait for his return

And watch across infinity

The wind, so cold it burns

His bedroom is untouched

His calendar's unmoved

Time stands still in Lhasa

Dalai Lama, come home soon

Chorus
