  1. Field of Bones

From the recording Field of Bones

Oak Ridge, the little town where I live, is in large part a federal reservation.  During WWII, federal agents knocked on doors, giving families a few days to remove themselves from their farms and homesteads.  All of the land was seized for the Manhattan Project, which produced the enriched uranium for the two atomic bombs there dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The town is dotted with tiny little family cemeteries.  My husband, dog and I were walking on one of the old gravel roads close to what used to be the Wheat Community.  We wandered into the old Radar family cemetery, one which neither one of us even knew existed.
I took many photographs and wrote this poem and music.  I made this audio recording.  I also made a video.  You may find it on my Video Gallery page on this website.
