From the recording Don't Shout Me Down

Probably like most Americans (maybe even you), I get awfully tired of the shouting and incivility in public discourse.  I'm tired of talking heads who don't listen on the cable channels.  And I'm tired of citizens not permitting other citizens to have their say in town meetings.

Lyrics

Don't Shout Me Down    (copyright 2010 Martha Maria/Dancing Rabbit Music)

Our country is full
Of people that hurt
Losing their houses
Folks without work
Tossing and turning
Can't sleep at night
Everyone's worried
So don't pick a fight

Chorus
I know when you shout
It's cause you're afraid
Most of us are
We've made some mistakes
I'm just like you
I live here too
Don't shout me down
Don't shut me out
I live here too
Don't shout me down

I won't turn on you
So don't turn on me
We're in this together
We're not enemies
We need every hand
Each heart and each voice
To turn this around
And turn down the noise

Repeat Chorus
